But what do they hunt? And more importantly, what sound do they make with a successful kill?

They mostly come at night preset brought the giraffes out into the light.

As an unperfect actor on the stage
Who with his fear is put besides his part,
Or some fierce thing replete with too much rage,
Whose strength’s abundance weakens his own heart.
So I, for fear of trust, forget to say
The perfect ceremony of love’s rite,
And in mine own love’s strength seem to decay,
O’ercharged with burden of mine own love’s might.
O, let my books be then the eloquence
And dumb presagers of my speaking breast,
Who plead for love and look for recompense
More than that tongue that more hath more express’d.
O, learn to read what silent love hath writ:
To hear with eyes belongs to love’s fine wit.

Discuss.

Vintage aliumery used for this one. Nothing else, except a crop. Deliberately taken behind the sun with the light coming through the leaves.

A very apt quote. I rediscovered a whole swathe of these alium from, lessee, May (May!) in LightRoom and started to play with some of the newer presets. I would now have significant difficulty if anyone ever told me I’d have to choose a single flower to photomograph for the rest of my days. Alium? Daisy? Bluebell? Echinacea? Crocosmia? Woe, woe, woe would be harold. Which makes this a good candidate for sad bokeh friday, where the Maxeran roams free, grazing in organic migraine-less pastures.

This one used the new ‘When the hurly-burly’s done’ preset. Not only is it new? It’s free. For all. A free-for-all! Lightroom and ACR / Photoshop versions right here.

Re-re-rediscover.

A tad late adding this one to the blog. Is all my fault. Blame me.

This used the tried and tested ‘They mostly come at night’ preset, available for freeeeee download right here. Saturation came down a tad, vibrance went up, and blacks went up a leeeetle. It was cropped. And then re-cropped. And then the crop was reset. And then cropped another way. And finally ended up like so.

More crocosmia looking a leeetle dragon-like amidst the purply night. And as the wise sage Dino once said, there is purple there. I know, because I added it.

Aliumed in the beginning, then blacks upped and shadows made purplier.

BRING ME BACK MY CUP, HOBBIT.

I wanted to take the vintage aliumery preset used this morning and make one that had more of a pinkish cast to it – like those very old photomographs you find buried in your grandmother’s attic. I came up with this, vintage aliumery 2 for Adobe Camera Raw | Lightroom. Yes, I’m very original.

The point I am trying to make? These free presets (along with all the others) are now available for download, free, for Photoshop Elements (6 & 7).

Magical:
Add sunlight
Bright
Drama Queen
Moody
Nostalgia
Rain
Soft Glow

Vintage:
Vintage Aliumery
Vintage Aliumery 2

Instructions on installation have been updated (with graphics) for using the Presets in Elements

Also? I think I have a vintage addiction. I can’t stop applying these two presets to my photos.

Also, also? I discovered today that the rounded corners, which I cannot do in ACR/CS3, works when applied with a preset made in ACR/ CS4. I’m going to make up a preset for rounded corners! Just not right this instant. Sry.

Chillyfly’s world tour continues. From the Arctic to the humid tropics, he flies ever on.

The settings used to make chillyfly into swelteringfly are yours for free as a preset if you would like it. ‘Tis called ‘not chilly at all’ and you’ll find it makes photos… well, a little darker and a little more golden.
